Reflections on Bansi Parimu's Art
“Late Bansi Parimu created more complex forms—linear forms that straddle the frame, creating balancing directional thrusts. The areas of uniform color have been given a soft, pearly finish and isolated by contouring, which often suggests the relief of cloisonné enamel but without the use of ridges of impasto. In other areas, mottled effects and textures have been obtained in various ways: light roll ring over the ground color with a different one, using the back of the brush for calligraphic arabesques, and using the gauze overlays.”
Krishna Chaitanaya, "A History of Indian Painting – Modern Period" (pages 247–248)
“A dedicated painter from Kashmir whom I came to know from my early sixties visits. We became friends. His work gained stature and could reflect the beauty and turmoil of the Kashmiri people. The color, the sound of its landscape, creates an orchestra of nature’s bounty. Parimu’s paintings keep singing the song of creation that is Kashmir on our planet.”
M F Hussain
Parimu has an enormous sense of design while creating his forms and effects. For a serious lover of art, he creates something akin to energy fields.
His work has also moved through stages of evolution, coming a long way from realistic watercolors to impressionism, then figurative abstracts, and finally pure abstracts. He uses a wide range of color hues, including green, blue, red, and ochre, in his compositions. This work demands closer investigation and multiple viewings (proximal and distal) to appreciate it in its entirety.
